This story was a pretty good suspense story. I think it was just a stupid part of Connie to just go anywhere she wanted to. As a parent, I would be on my daughters life but also show some privacy making sure I'm fair with her. Another thing this story pointed out was that there are many creeps out there. Some even at a young age! It is sad to hear about that but at the same time it might not be the attackers fault. I know it sounds bad but reasonwhy I said it was because the attacker can have a sad, bad or miserable history like growing up as a child. I have watched episodes of Law & Order SVU and there are stories like these ones that happen all the time.

"Oedipus"
This has got to be one of the longest stories I have ever read. Not going to lie but it was boring. It had some points in the story were it caught my attetion. Other than that, I was just bored reading it. If I were acting though as if I was in a play, I wouldnt mind acting. I have never heard of the writer Sophocles who was around the 496-406 B.C. time period. I have read about homer and other stories around that time. I dont think i would want to read another story by him though.

"Under the Banyan Tree"
I never knew what a Banyan tree was till I researched it. Its a tree native in India, it's in the Mulberry family and it holds vast of memories. The young plants put forth roots, which supports the second massive limbs of the tree. Pretty impressive what nature can offer to us. It attracts alot of animals like monkeys and birds. But as for insects, it is the wasps that occupy because it pollinates the tree.
"The Problem With Human Compassion"
I wonder if I were to be abandoned and stuck in a ship all alone, would people come and save me? I HOPE SO IF THEY DID A DOG! I mean no offense to anyone, I love dogs but alot of people put alot of money to save him. People out there need it more and have major problems than the dog had. But hey its all love at the end. lucky dog, more of a celebrity than me!
"Dinner For One"
This comedy show was funny for an old classic black and white film. It had humor and showed some points. What I mean when I say points, the old lady was lonely and had no friends and had to ask her butler to re-enact as her fellow friends. I think that money cant buy you friends, its how you act and hold yourself determines who you meet and become at times. I wouldnt mind wathcing this show if I were born in those days.
"Beauty"
The story was boring to me. Only thing that caught my attention was at the end when she mentioned Cindy Crawford because i think shes beautiful. I tried seaching for Jane Martin but could not find a picture of her for a weird reason. This was my first time reading a story by this author. No worry though, I do not think I'm going to be reading any of her stories for awhile.
"Big Black Good Man"
After reading this story, I thought it was just another story about a white male being intimidated by a black male, except for his size which is understandable. What made the sailor so rowdy was that it was late at night, he wanted to relax with a lady. I guess back in the day if you wanted sex just ask the teller or attendant for one hah! Richard Wright is also popular for writing other pieces such as " The Man Who Was Almost A Man".
"A Good Man Is Hard To Find"
This story is so messed up! How could a man shoot a woman, or shoot an innocent person period. But he was mentally sick I believed, he was not a believer in God. It also shows how there are crazy people out there and people should be careful of road trips. On the other hand, the grandmother was stupid for not telling her mistake. It cost her her life and the family on the trip. I liked reading this in class, I understood it more by listening and reading it at the same time.
"Everything That Rises Must Converge"
This story was a well written story as an opinion. If my mother was in that kind of situation, I would go with her and accompany her no matter what. And if there was any racial system problems going on, I would definately go with her to protect her. Not going to lie, before I searched who Flannery O'Connor, I thought she was an African-American because of the story. If that statement offended anyone, I apologize, it was not meant to. Another book she wrote that was a hit was "A Good Man Is ard To Find" she wrote in 1977.
"Nine Ten"
I have always wanted to do jury duty. The hard part for me thoug his that I cant get emotional towards the case of the court. But other than that, hopefully someday I get chosen. In the story, these people were a bunch of strangers to each other and by the end of the story, they knew each other as if they go to work together. One thing that came to my mind was when the Hamptons were brought up. I want to go there so bad! I will someday though, but first I have to be in jury duty hah! Story was okay other than that though.
"Tape"
This story reminded me of "I Dream Before I Take the Stand" at the beginning because of the questions and annoyance. But what I liked was when the "person" was annoyed and was rude back, I laughed and said finally! Someone in a story got annoyed by being attacked by 21 questions. But then the attendant was just trying to do his job, by getting as much as he can out of the person. Personally i thought the story was boring.
"A&P"
I went on google to search the market to just see, and guess what there really is one. Okay anyways the story was basically about typical teenage boy wanting to impress a group of girls maybe having a chance to get with or hang out with them. But hey not going to lie, i did that a couple times too back in the day. Dancing, skating tae kwon do, but i look at it now, its funny but hey i at least didnt look bad or get fired! I think it was just an excuse for him to quit that job anyways, he didnt want to be there. And another thing i want to add, if my daughter ever wears any eye candy clothes, oh boy, she be grounded for life....
"Sunday In The Park"
"I Dream Before I Take the Stand"
I actually liked this story. It made me laugh and feel akward at times. Funny because the way the detective or "he" was asking the women the questions were very detailed if not badgering her. He would ask her "what kind of top you wearing?" or, "Did you smile when you walked by him" saying like as she was teasing the man who accusedly "raped" her or touched. In reality, cases like these, the detectives would ask a lot of questions. Reason why is because they want to make sure they dont false accuse the "suspect". I like the way Arlene Hutton wrote this story. It was short, told the whole story and it intrigued me. But it sucks to be reminded how women are assaulted these days.
"Doe Season" To Be Intrigued Or Not To Be....
The story at first when I first read it was good. After doin the questions and analysis it kind of made me change my mind though. Even some of my classmates opinions nudged me a bit to change my mind. The story is like other stories about someone finding who they really are or just trying to be something they cant be fit into. Example was Andy, even though she is a girl, she considered as being named as a boy. My opinion is that she just wanted that name to just go with her want to be personality of being a boy. Hunting, fishing and camping are mostly a guy thing back in the day and usually the girls and moms would stay home taking care of the house and making sure food is ready when breakfast, lunch and dinner time was going to be served. The story now to me is pretty "blah" as you can say. But what can I say, i did like the story in the beginning til I analyzed and listened to other peoples opinions about it.
