After reading this story, I thought it was just another story about a white male being intimidated by a black male, except for his size which is understandable. What made the sailor so rowdy was that it was late at night, he wanted to relax with a lady. I guess back in the day if you wanted sex just ask the teller or attendant for one hah! Richard Wright is also popular for writing other pieces such as " The Man Who Was Almost A Man".
This story was very realistic like ive been through this when a smaller person looks at me and says big black man but after a conversation its usually big black nice man lol
